Infoterra has partnered with Stanfords Business Mapping, a leading retail supplier of paper mapping and map data for businesses, to develop a cost-effective new geographical asset management system - Stanfords GIS - for organisations managing property portfolios. This new system incorporates mapping and aerial photography in a secure, web-based management interface to provide an integrated geographical property database.

Stanfords GIS is ideal for housing associations and local authorities, enabling management of their property stock in a geographical context. Within an easy-to-use browser-based application, Stanfords GIS integrates geospatial data with property specific information, such as maintenance records, site plans, photographs and financial reports.

Under a single annual Stanfords GIS licence, organisations can upload addresses that are then matched against Ordnance Survey Address Layer 2 to determine geographic location. Detailed aerial imagery and OS MasterMap are provided for visualisation of the immediate surrounding area of each property.

Additional mapping data provides a wider context to the entire portfolio. This management tool then allows the user to annotate maps, populate data tables, and generate reports.

"We recognise that geographic information management can be daunting and expensive due to the complexities of sourcing technology, staff and data. Therefore we now offer a simple service from one online resource, with charging based on actual data usage, aimed at delivering real business benefits. To date feedback from potential users has been very positive," commented Geoff Blissitt, National Sales Manager of Stanfords Business Mapping.

This new management tool builds on Infoterra Ltd's successful partnership with Stanfords in developing the Stanfords GeoStore offering, which provides online access to aerial photography, height data and Ordnance Survey mapping. It is based on Infoterra's portal, GeoStore and its state-of-the-art geospatial data hosting capability.
