Foster City CA (SPX) Jun 19, 2008 SolarCity, California's No. 1 residential solar power company, has initiated a new community solar power program in the East Bay. The program will be available in Danville, Pleasanton, Livermore, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Walnut Creek and other surrounding cities. George and Darlene Gayler, co-owners of Gayler Construction, a design and remodeling business in Danville, are leading the community-based effort. After signing up for their own solar system, they decided to team with SolarCity to help extend the program to others in their community. "We want to do our part to make a positive impact on the environment, and every day we hear from others in our community who feel the same way," said Darlene Gayler. "Clean, solar power is a great environmental decision, and SolarCity has eliminated the upfront cost to allow families to save money from day one. Our experience with SolarCity has been fantastic, and as we learned more about their offering we realized it was something far more families in our area could do. "We are spearheading the community program with SolarCity to extend the affordable solar option to our friends, neighbors and everyone we can contact in the community!" SolarCity is extending special community pricing to Tri-Valley program participants for a limited time. The company's SolarLease product includes a zero-dollar down payment option that can make switching to solar power cost less than the utility company, and allow homeowners to immediately start saving money. Gayler Construction will join SolarCity in two "solar seminar" educational events in the East Bay this week. The Solar Seminars will provide the latest information on electricity rates, tax rebates and incentives and provide further details about the Tri-Valley community program.
