SES NEW SKIES announces that Grupo Abril, one of the largest diversified media groups in Latin America, has launched MTV Brasil, its main TV channel for cable distribution in Brazil, on the NSS-806 satellite at the orbital location of 319.5 degrees East.

MTV Brasil is the third channel of Grupo Abril to launch on SES NEW SKIES' NSS-806 satellite, alongside Ideal, a business television channel focused on management and career development, and Fiz, a youth channel targeting the Web 2.0 generation produced by Grupo Abril subsidiary Canais Abril.

The Sao-Paulo based conglomerate now contracts a total capacity of 17.5 MHz on the NSS-806 satellite.

Dolores Martos, Vice President Sales Latin America and Caribbean at SES NEW SKIES, welcomes MTV Brasil onboard NSS-806: "The selection of this satellite by Grupo Abril further strengthens the orbital location of 319.5 degrees East as a leading video neighborhood for Latin America and the Caribbean. We look forward to a continued fruitful collaboration with Grupo Abril and to a steadily growing number of programme choices at this orbital position."
