Samid announced to the conference plenum the establishment of the First Multi-National Task Force for 100% Renewable Energy.

"We are currently assembling the founding team of vetted credentialed individuals and organizations...Our main goal is to support development of family of technologies that will enable us to grow our economy and protect our environment and secure our existence at the same time, by eliminating the use of oil - first - for electricity production and then for transportation.

"This is a matter of national security, and should be dealt as such...If you also believe that 100% renewable energies is an achievable vision - join us - as a founder or as board member", he said.

At the opening, keynote speaker, Israel's Minister of National Infrastructures Binyamin "Fouad" Ben Eliezer, said his office was concentrating on two areas, that of assuring energy sources, primarily natural gas; and developing alternative energy sources, "primarily solar, given Israel's optimal climate conditions," and others, such as oil shale, as well.

Jonathan Shrier, acting assistant secretary at the Office of Policy and International Affairs of the US Department of Energy, told the conference plenum that the agreement between the US and Israel on developing renewable energy technologies had the support of Dr. Steven Chu, the new US Secretary of Energy.

Other announcements made at the conference include the Timna Renewable Energy Park, which will be the national laboratory for developing and implementing Renewable energy technologies, and the AORA Solar Thermal Module at Kibbutz Samar, the world's first commercial hybrid solar gas-turbine power plant that is already nearing completion.

The three-day conference focused on the latest innovations in renewable energy, with the participation of internationally-recognized alternative energy experts, but gave the stage also for new announcements by leading start-ups, which are developing promising solar energy technologies, like the following:

- a revolutionary CPV technology to produce high efficiency Solar Panels that reduce the price per watt in half, and will reduce the price well below $1 in the next year - and as a result will cut the ROI on solar panels to less than 3 years without government subsidies.

- a manufacturing line of bifacial PV cells that produce 15-20% more electricity per $ than the best of breed counterparts.

- a proprietary technology for reliable, efficient and competitive medium to large scale solar power generation plants, based on the bankable trough technology, but avoiding wet cooling, providing flexible sizing and renewable back-up.

- an innovative CPV approach yielded a patent pending technology of flat mirror collectors and a passively cooled central linear cell array that delivers an unmatched combination of durability, simplicity and low cost.

- a medium-concentration solar units with photovoltaic elements cooled by evaporation, decreasing dramatically the temperature of photovoltaic elements, thereby improving their performance in terms of power output, life span and stability of operation.

- a unique solar thermal technology based on dish and an advanced receiver with high efficiency and modularity, that allows market penetration without extensive project finance. The efficiency increases when deployed in a combined cycle mode.

- a distributed inverter system solution which will immediately return from 7-20% upside power from today's traditionally architected systems. Operational expenses (cost-of-ownership) are also reduced through increased system reliability, safety enhancements, and advanced module-level management for granular maintenance and warrantee service.
