Umbra, a space technology company known for its high-resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites, has secured a multi-million dollar contract from the Space Development Agency (SDA) to explore the integration of its commercial remote sensing technology into the SDA's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA). This collaboration highlights Umbra's expanding role in supporting the SDA's mission of providing space-based capabilities to aid terrestrial operations through a proliferated low Earth orbit (pLEO) satellite constellation.

By incorporating its technology into the SDA's PWSA, Umbra enhances real-time observations of key areas of interest, allowing data to be transmitted directly to tactical nodes without the need for an in-theater ground terminal. This system improvement will increase data access for more users and streamline space-to-ground integration.

"Umbra is fully aligned with SDA's mission, and we are excited to support this important investment in advancing their future architecture," said Bonnie Kean, Director of Mission Solutions at Umbra. "Both SDA and Umbra share a commitment to delivering innovative solutions with speed and value. This partnership is a natural fit, and we look forward to pushing the boundaries of what's possible to accomplish SDA's objectives."

Since its inception in 2015, Umbra has been a leader in remote sensing, delivering SAR imaging technology and patented satellite systems that offer 24/7 monitoring in all weather conditions. Umbra continues to set benchmarks in precision and intelligence gathering, supporting both government and commercial missions.
