Trust Automation gets Lockheed contract for Q-53 radar

Trust Automation announced on Tuesday its fifth manufacturing contract with Lockheed Martin for work on the Q-53 radar's vehicle automation system.

The deal, for an undisclosed amount, involves work for the rugged vehicle automation system Trust developed for Lockheed's AN/TPQ-53 Counterfire Target Acqusition Radar that provides troops with enhanced 360-degree protection from indirect fire, Trust said in a statement.

The Q-53 is a new generation radar system that allows troops to quickly locate and neutralize mortar and rocket threats and can adapt to harsh environments and changing missions.

Trust said a recent demonstration showed how the radar can be readily adapted to provide air surveillance and counter-rocket, artillery mortar capabilities in one tactical sensor.

Trust offers fully engineered system solutions and U.S.-based manufacturing for custom motor and motion control requirements.

Recent contracts included systems for the TPS-77 multi-role radars and the multi-mission launcher for the U.S. Army.
