The growth bingo has seen from online gaming

Gaming has always been popular but one type of game that has seen a huge uptake in recent years is bingo games. This game used to be played in gaming halls up and down the country but this declined over the years.

However, bingo is now back with a bang - mostly thanks to online gaming. But why has this happened? We've investigated so you don't have to.

Why is bingo so popular to play online?

Easy to play

Bingo is one of the easiest games for people to play especially if they're not already gamers. It's a game that isn't too complex and it doesn't have lots of rules to remember.

All you have to do in bingo is match the numbers that are called out with the numbers on your card. It's also a very social game to play with friends which is another reason for its popularity.

Play from anywhere

As there aren't a lot of bingo halls left now, playing online means that it's easy for everyone to play from wherever you are. There's no need to travel to a bingo hall, the only thing you need to do is log on to your favourite site or app in order to play.

Online promotions

Online promotional deals are another reason bingo is so popular to play online. As there are lots of online bingo sites, they're all competing for players and one way they can make themselves stand out from the crowd is through promotional deals.

The players get more for their money and the online bingo sites manage to get the customers they need so it's a win win for everyone involved.

What types of bingo games are available online?

30 ball bingo

30 ball bingo is the quick fire round version of the game that you can play online. It's a pretty rare variety of bingo so you have to know where to look for it but it's worth a go if you find it!

The bingo card in speed bingo is made up of a 3x3 grid so it's got limited numbers which is why the game is so quick. This also means that the only winner can be the first person to get to a full house. As the game is short, the end prize is a lot more exciting.

75 ball bingo

75 ball bingo is the most common version you'll find in the US rather than in the UK but this doesn't mean it's impossible to find.

You are given a 5x5 grid full of numbers but there is a blank space in the middle. This one is left blank but you don't get to fill it with a number of your own unfortunately. The aim of the game is to fill out one row as quickly as possible.

This can be done either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. The biggest win comes from a full house if you can get there.

80 ball bingo

80 ball bingo is ideal for playing bingo online. It uses the standard 4x4 grid with all of the squares filled in with randomly generated numbers.

To win, you have to get the numbers in the pattern that's shown on the screen. There are often still vertical and horizontal options but you might also need to get all four corners or all single digit numbers. This keeps the game new and exciting.

90 ball bingo

90 ball bingo is the most commonly found bingo game option and the one you'd be used to playing if you used to play at a bingo hall. It's a slower game of bingo as there are more numbers to find.

The grid is very different from the others as it has 9 squares in each row but there are only 5 numbers within each row. There are 15 numbers overall over the 3 lines.

The overall layout of the game is also different as there are three different stages to the game. The first winner is the first person to complete a horizontal row. The next winner is the first to complete two horizontal rows.

The third and final winner is the person to get a full house and, of course, they get the biggest prize.

Slingo bingo

Slingo bingo is the new kid on the block and is a perfect combination of slot games and bingo. It's great if you're a fan of both games as it's the best of both.

You're given your bingo card as normal and all of the numbers on the card are randomly generated as you'd expect. However, instead of the numbers being displayed on the screen, you have to play a slot game to reveal them.

You'll have the slot game at the bottom of the screen and the numbers will appear once you have clicked 'spin'. It's still an easy game, just with a twist!

Now you know all about why bingo is so popular online, you can give it a go yourself!

Virtual reality helps people understand and care about distant communities
Stanford CA (SPX) Oct 27, 2025
For many of us, climate change feels like a distant threat - damage that happens in the future somewhere far away to people we know little about. A new Stanford University-led study reveals how virtual reality can close that distance, enabling users to explore faraway places, develop a sense of attachment to those places, and care more about how a warming world is wreaking havoc on people's lives. The findings, published this week in Scientific Reports, show that VR experiences significantly reduc ... read more
