IT products distributor Tech Data has announced a distribution agreement with TomTom, the world's leading navigation solutions provider. Tech Data will offer IT resellers access to the complete line of TomTom products and accessories.

TomTom expands Tech Data's GPS navigation solutions offering, which includes handheld and automotive devices from ASUS, Harman/Becker Automotive Systems, and Pharos Science and Applications.

"Tech Data continues to diversify its product offering to create new sales opportunities for our reseller customers," said Tech Data Vice President, Peripherals Product Marketing Wendy Linsky.

"GPS devices complement many technology sales focused on workforce mobility in the public and private sectors. The addition of another market leader like TomTom is especially valuable for our resellers, enabling them to present a respected and well-established GPS brand to their customers."

TomTom products available through Tech Data include the TomTom ONE, TomTom XL and TomTom GO lines. Available features include touch-screen interface, automatic rerouting, real-time traffic alerts, audio directions, Voice Address Input, speed warnings, easy mounting and hands-free calling.

Tech Data also will distribute a broad array of TomTom accessories, including travel cases, USB chargers, protective covers, iPod adapters, mounts, and external antenna or wireless Bluetooth receiver for enhanced GPS reception.

"Selling a GPS solution has brought us new opportunities in different marketplaces," said Debra Candido, vice president of Manhattan Information Systems, Inc.

"For instance, we sell many units to an organization that responds to medical and disastrous emergencies in remote geographies. They were not able to depend on Internet access but still needed to get to many different sites. A GPS device was an excellent enhanced mobile solution. We created a full solution wrapped around the GPS product with enhanced accessories, software applications and install services for a very satisfied customer."
