Frankfurt (AFP) Nov 30, 2010 Snow and icy conditions in Europe have forced the cancellation of more than 200 flights Tuesday at Frankfurt international airport, the continent's third busiest, a spokeswoman told AFP. By mid-morning local time, a total of 128 arrivals and 80 departures had been cancelled, with many other flights experiencing significant delays, she said. The runways have been cleared of snow, but the aircraft needed defrosting, which caused the delays. Wintry weather also caused several deaths and accidents on German roads overnight. On the A7 motorway in central Germany, a lorry transporting pigs overturned, injuring the driver and several animals, 21 of which were shot by police on the spot. And the stranded passengers on an ICE high-speed train were evacuated overnight in southern Germany after heavy snow fell on overhead wires, cutting off power, said the Red Cross.
