Saab to supply South African forces with field kitchens
by James Laporta
Washington (UPI) Nov 20, 2017

The South African National Defence Force has awarded defense and security company Saab with a contract to provide for mass field feeding capabilities.

The company announced the deal on Monday, providing few details on the amount of the contract, but saying Saab will provide South African forces with mobile containerized kitchen systems.

"Saab is committed to supporting world class capabilities for the SANDF. This contract represents our efforts in strengthening our partnerships with military veterans and small and medium-sized enterprises -- in line with national imperatives in South Africa," Trevor Raman, President and CEO of Saab Grintek Defence, said in a press release.

The 200-man system has a fully equipped expandable kitchen unit, complete with a reefer unit, and utility unit for potable water, diesel and waste water. The system also has a storage unit.

Similarly, the 50-man system has a fully equipped expandable unit and bladders to hold both potable and wastewater.

Work under the contract is expected to be completed over the next two years in Centurion, South Africa, Saab said.
