Saab introduces mobile training app for soldiers

Saab Group has developed a new individual mobile training app for soldiers using the company's GAMER system.

The Swedish defense contractor says the app strives to take a new approach to military preparation, noting most routines focus on group-based exercises. The app, called WE:Go, tracks the individual's progress by automatically downloading data from the GAMER system onto a mobile device. The developers say this approach can improve a soldier's morale on the field.

"High-fidelity training is essential to build a soldier's confidence," Saab Training & Simulation head Åsa Thegström said in a press release. "With WE:Go's ability to deliver individual results to each soldier, he or she can reach that level of confidence sooner than ever."

With WE:Go, users have access to their positions, movements, weapon engagements, rounds fired, and accuracy. The software can also replay footage taken from helmet cameras, which Thegström says can provide valuable feedback.

"Saab believes that this app will increase soldier motivation and make exercise follow-up more effective and rewarding," she added.
