Raytheon's Missile Systems business is expanding its cooperation with Polish missile and ammunition manufacturer MESKO with the signing of a Letter of Intent.

The agreement, Raytheon said, will lead to collaboration and technology sharing and focuses on Raytheon's KRAB howitzer precision fires and a new Polish Attack Helicopter.

"This is a tremendous step forward, allowing Raytheon to expand its collaborative relationship with our partners at MESKO and the Polish industrial community, while providing increased capabilities for the Poland land force " said Michelle Lohmeier, vice president of Raytheon's Land Warfare Systems product line. "The LOI serves as a tool for both companies to explore cooperation and mutually beneficial business opportunities, as well as potential exports to third country markets."

Future co-development of capabilities for Raytheon's Excalibur 155mm precision projectile and the TALON laser-guided rocket -- co-developed with United Arab Emirates – are within the purview of the deal, as well as potential collaboration on a next generation anti-armor weapon and a very short-range air defense weapon.

Excalibur is a precision-guided, extended-range projectile equipped with GPS guidance. It is used by the U.S. Army, Marines, and several international militaries.

Under an earlier LOI, the two companies agreed to cooperate on opportunities related to Poland's air defense architecture and to jointly explore partnerships in areas such as sub-system production and qualification of Patriot GEM-T missile sub-systems.
