Raytheon has opened a new facility collocated with the U.S. military to enhance collaboration and industrial teaming on warfighter technologies and systems.

Located at the Aberdeen Proving Ground's Government and Technology Enterprise or GATE Park - a technology, research and development business area for government and non-government users - the 75,000-square-foot space includes office, lab and customer presentation facilities.

"Through closer collaboration with the military, Raytheon employees at this new facility will provide advanced capabilities, such as identification friend or foe systems, to keep our warfighters safe," said Dan Crowley, president, Raytheon Network Centric Systems.

"Like the proving ground, Raytheon has a long heritage of meeting soldiers' mission needs with tested, ultimately combat-proven solutions. We look forward to building upon that mutual heritage and commitment and to forging stronger and new partnerships along the way."

The new facility has 200 people and is large enough to support additional growth. Raytheon employs nearly 1,100 people in Maryland.

Employees from Raytheon's Advanced Communications and Countermeasures group and its U.S. Business Development office are located at the facility. The Aberdeen site will offer joint educational opportunities as well as training and demonstration centers.

The facility also meets Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver standards. LEED is a third-party certification program awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council for construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
