French car maker Peugeot seeks 30 pct boost in China sales
Beijing (AFP) Jan 25, 2010 - French car maker Peugeot said Monday it was aiming to increase sales in China by 30 percent this year, double the growth rate for the country's whole market. "Peugeot has ambitions to sell 150,000 cars in place of the 110,000 it sold (in China) last year," company spokesman Jean-Marc Gales told reporters at the launch of its latest model, the 408. Peugeot hopes the 408 will boost sales in China, the world's biggest car market, as it was planned by French and Chinese designers in order to appeal to the Asian giant's drivers, Gales said. As well as China the 408 is also being lined up for launch in Russia and Latin America, while the car maker has still to decide whether to market it in Europe.

Owasso, Okla. (UPI) Jan 25, 2009
A city official in Owasso, Okla., said a planned filling station will offer local motorists access to a more environmentally friendly form of gas.

Owasso City Manager Rodney Ray said a replica of a historic gas station will be built in his city and the site will feature Compressed Natural Gas pumps that provide fuel that is less detrimental to the environment, the Tulsa (Okla.) World said Monday.

Ray said the station project approved by the city council last week should also prove beneficial to Oklahoma as a whole.

"That's a great deal because it's Oklahoma energy," Ray said. "Oklahoma has some of the largest reserves of natural gas in the United States.

"If we can use an Oklahoma energy product, if we can save the taxpayers money and rebuild a main street to honor the people who were before us, that is good."

The World said while natural gas is considered the cleanest-burning fossil fuel, the Web site cngnow.com estimates only 150,000 vehicles in the United States use the alternative fuel.
