Nine tankers loaded with oil slip track in Russia

Law enforcement officials in Russia said nine rail cars carrying crude oil derailed near the Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk.

Officials said no injuries were reported in the Sunday derailment.

"One of the oil tank cars overturned," an unnamed regional law enforcement official told ITAR-Tass. "No fire outbreak has been reported."

There was no report of any oil spilled from the accident.

In North America, increased oil production has resulted in more oil carried by rail because there isn't enough pipeline capacity to handle the output.

Canadian officials have ordered some older rail cars off the tracks as a safety precaution. U.S. regulators in January said oil from the Bakken region of North Dakota may be more prone than other grades to catch fire in the event of a derailment.

More than 40 people were killed when a train carrying Bakken crude oil derailed in Lac-Megantic, Quebec, in July.
