Nations Roof joins the U.S. Department of Energy's Federal Energy Management Program in promoting Energy Awareness Month 2008.

This year's Energy Awareness Month theme, Working to Secure a Clean Energy Future, encourages all Americans to learn how making wise energy choices can have an immediate economic impact as well as providing long-term benefits for the environment.

One wise energy choice, solar roofing, continues to grow in popularity as people learn of the many benefits it affords.

A solar roof, also known as a photovoltaic roofing system, can unleash the power of the sun and turn your roof into an energy-producing asset. A building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system will reduce your energy costs and your reliance on the utility grid while providing you with a lightweight, high performance roofing system.

Not only can you save money on energy costs but often you can also get credit for feeding its excess solar power into the local electrical grid.

Photovoltaic or solar energy offers several additional and distinct benefits over utility power and other forms of on-site electrical generation. An investment in a solar energy system delivers the following benefits:

+ Solar is a fixed cost hedged against rising energy costs

+ Solar provides a compelling return on investment of 15% or more in many cases

+ Solar energy systems are highly reliable and have low maintenance costs

+ Solar is the only 100% clean, completely silent energy generation technology

Nations Roof, a founding member of the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing, recently announced the hire of Joe Carbine who will serve as vice president, national account sales and renewable energy solutions. With an extensive background in solar/photovoltaic roofing technologies, Carbine will play a leading role in Nations Roof's increased focus on this emerging market.
