Multifunction Shipper Maximizes Shipping Density For PV Makers

The shipping system maximizes the number of cells or wafers on a pallet.

Entegris, has launched a new multifunction shipper designed to provide photovoltaic wafer, cell and module manufactures with decreased cell breakage, improved transportation efficiencies, lower warehouse and labor costs, and reduced waste.

In developing the new shipper, Entegris has combined more than 30 years of experience in handling critical substrates with input from leading cell manufacturers to create a multifunction shipper which offers increased protection, higher shipment density, reuse and recycling capabilities and automation.

The shipper will be featured at the 5th SNEC International Solar Industry and Photovoltaic Exhibition and Conference in Shanghai.

Constructed with cleanable polypropylene materials, the Entegris multifunction shipper can be used multiple times and recycled efficiently, thus allowing wafer and cell manufacturers a "green" alternative to reduce packaging waste and disposal costs.

Furthermore, the shipping system maximizes the number of cells or wafers on a pallet; improving transportation efficiencies and reducing warehousing costs.

"Photovoltaic manufacturers require more than a way to safely transport cells and wafers; they require a total solution to lower overall costs. The multifunction shipper achieves this through adding more cells per shipment, enabling reuse and integrating efficiently into factory automation to improve cycle times and reduce waste." said Stuart Tison, vice president of Entegris' industrial solutions group.

"The new shipper continues our mission of providing users opportunities to improve their yields, throughput and manufacturing costs with the most effective transport solutions."

Another feature of the Entegris shipper is its ability to serve as both a sorting bin and a shipper, eliminating the need for an operator to manually transfer the wafers or cells thereby endangering the substrate. This improvement helps manufacturers improve their processes in a way that provides increased yields and reduces labor costs.

To learn more about this new shipper, conference attendees can visit Entegris at booth E630 Hall 1. Additional information can be found online at
