MAG IAS has been selected to provide back-end processing systems, installation services and 24/7 global service and support for the patented CIGSolar cell manufacturing lines being developed by XsunX.

XsunX is an Aliso Viejo, CA-based developer of hybrid thin-film photovoltaic (TFPV) solar cell technologies and manufacturing processes. The company is developing and marketing a new patent-pending process to produce low-cost, high-efficiency, thin-film CIGS solar cells. In support of the XsunX front-end process, MAG's automation systems will assemble the cells into modules, providing XsunX customers with a turnkey method of producing CIGSolar modules.

According to Joseph Grimes, President and COO of XsunX, "Teaming with MAG allows XsunX to stay focused on its core competency of designing breakthrough technology that addresses market needs, while providing customers confidence that their systems are backed by a proven installation and support infrastructure."

MAG is a leading supplier of laser scribing solutions, backend systems, full factory automation, and complete integration services for crystalline-silicon and thin-film module manufacturing.

"Our broad range of products for the solar industry, combined with experience in large system design, build and installation for mature industries, makes us an ideal complement to the XsunX front end technology," said Dr. J. Manjunathaiah, Vice President Sales and Business Development for MAG. "We hope this collaborative effort will speed the introduction of the CIGSolar process into the market as a non-toxic, low-cost alternative to silicon solar cells."

MAG is a solutions provider for high-volume manufacturing of thin film crystalline silicone (c-Si) solar modules. MAG solar solutions range from standard cells to turnkey systems, with custom solutions and simultaneous engineering partner services available.
