Lockheed Martin and Guardtime Technology demonstrated technology they produced together to combat cyber attacks.

The demonstration was conducted at Lockheed martin's Center for Innovation, and was the first known test to specifically focus on data manipulation. The two companies involved say the technology addresses data manipulation in aerospace and military platforms. Ron Bessire, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics' vice president for Engineering and Technical Operations, says the new technology offers new opportunities for both enterprise and embedded mission systems.

"Network, software and data integrity are critical qualities for our products and our customers, and the cyber security solutions we've worked on with Guardtime combine the strengths of anti-tamper technology and information assurance," he said.

Guardtime, founded in 2007, is a company specializing in cyber network infrastructure. During the same year, the company invented the Keyless Signature Infrastructure (KSI), which is designed to deliver real time validation of electronic data. David Hamilton, president of Guardtime Federal, says his company shares Lockheed Martin's vision on data security.

"If we can guarantee the integrity of systems, networks and data at the hardware and software level then we can replace uncertainty with confidence in the data and execution processes that enables both enterprise and combat systems, absent of compromise," Hamilton said in a statement.

Lockheed Martin and Guardtime's efforts come as the U.S. defense industry hones in on cybersecurity, following a string of attacks traced back to China. President Barack Obama and China President Xi Jingping met to address the issue in September, with Beijing promising to step up investigations.
