L3 satellite terminals for Air National Guard
by Richard Tomkins
Washington (UPI) Oct 9, 2017

Hawkeye III Lite VSAT satellite communications terminals are being provided to the U.S. Air National Guard by L3 Technologies.

The 48 tri-band VSATs will enable direct communication from remote locations in all 50 states and U.S. territories and will enable access to the Wideband Global SATCOM network of military satellites, L3 said.

"L3 is proud to provide an advanced WGS communications capability to the Air National Guard," said Christopher E. Kubasik, L3's president and chief operating officer. "We have delivered more than 12,000 VSATs to military customers and have earned a reputation for quality, performance and reliability.

"The improved satellite connectivity and functionality from these terminals will assist this essential unit in its critical missions across the globe."

The units are for the U.S. Air National Guard's Joint Incident Site Communications Capability teams, who will receive training on the terminals by L3 teams.

The terminals will be delivered to the Air National Guard units in the fourth quarter of this year.
