The Israeli air force hit 130 targets in Gaza overnight, an army spokesman said Monday morning.

"In particular, warplanes targeted a mosque in Jabaliya where arms were being stored, as well as houses containing arms caches and vehicles that were transporting rocket launchers and armed men," he said.

"Ground forces continued their advance, aided by bombardment from naval ships," she added.

Meanwhile, Palestinian sources said Israeli artillery and gunboats had shelled the two main north-south roads at points in the centre and the south of the enclave.

On December 27, Israel launched an air war on the Hamas rulers of Gaza that was widened into a ground offensive on Saturday night.
