Israeli warplanes hit bases of the militant Islamic Hamas in the Gaza Strip overnight, following a Palestinian rocket attack on Israel, the Israeli army said on Monday. "Yesterday evening...a rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip at southern Israel," a military statement said. "No injuries were reported." "In response to the attack, Israel Air Force aircraft targeted two Hamas military posts in the northern and central Gaza Strip," it said. The army statement said that it was the 21st rocket fired from Hamas-controlled Gaza since the start of the year. "The Israel Defence Forces hold Hamas responsible and accountable for all attacks emanating from the Gaza Strip," it said. Palestinian officials in Gaza said that the Israeli strikes damaged a training camp of Hamas's armed wing, the Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, and of its naval force, but caused no injuries.
