The Israeli military said it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen on Tuesday, with the Iran-backed Huthi rebels claiming responsibility for the attack.

"Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in several areas in Israel, the IAF (Israeli air force) intercepted a missile that was launched from Yemen," a military statement said.

Huthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group launched a hypersonic ballistic missile at targets in the Jerusalem area and "three drones targeting Ramon Airport and two vital targets" in Eilat.
