Iran is preparing to launch three new locally made satellites to the orbit, Fars News Agency reported citing the Deputy Head of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA) Hamid Fazeli.

According to the reports, on the sidelines of the opening of the World Space Week in Tehran, Fazeli said that Iran is going to launch three Iranian-made satellites - Zafar, Tolou and Autsat. The main function of the satellites will be the transmission of images of the Earth's surface to the ground stations.

Fazeli added that two more satellites are currently being constructed.

In May the Deputy Head of the Iranian Space Agency said that the launch of the new satellites is expected to be conducted from March 2015 to March 2016.

In February Iran's officials has unveiled the new Tadbir (Wisdom) and Persian Gulf satellites and in September the ISA has announced its plan to send a man in space within next four years.
