Hughes Advanced TDMA Waveform tested at Talisman Sabre

The U.S. Military partnered with the Australian Defence Force during exercise Talisman Sabre 2015 to test Hughes' advanced TDMA waveform technology.

During the exercise, a joint training event designed to improve combat readiness and interoperability for both forces, The Australian Defence Force used the Hughes HX System, a satellite routing system equipped with advanced waveform technology. Upgrades to the satellite solution system improved connectivity and performance.

"Hughes provided direct support to Army for the conduct of the US and Australian bilateral Exercise Talisman Sabre during the period Mar - Jul 2015," said Colonel Shaun Love, Director Land Network Integration, ADF in a statement. "Australia is still maturing its understanding of deployed TDMA Satellite Operations, and the support from Hughes was fundamental to both the successful outcome of the exercise."

The HX System is designed for optimized carrier-grade IP broadband networking. The system features a compact hub configuration, management capabilities, an optimal mesh controller to support single-hop remote-to-remote connectivity, and network security. Users are able to further configure their network settings by using the system's four levels of IP traffic prioritization, multicast data delivery, and a variety of other features.

Talisman Sabre 2015 is the sixth biennial training event between U.S. and Australian military forces, involving approximately 30,000 defense personnel from both countries. In addition to land, naval, and maritime maneuver exercises, the training also involves Special Forces activities, amphibious landings, and live ammunition exercises.
