by Richard Tomkins
Amsterdam (UPI) Mar 07, 2017

GKN Aerospace's Fokker division will provide service and support for fixed-wing and rotor aircraft of the Royal Netherlands Air Force.

The contract period is five years, however the specific value of the contract was not detailed. Fokker said, however, it was a "multi-million" dollar contract.

"Fokker is proud to be selected for long-term total support of the RNLAF fleet," Paul Vorstermans, vice president at Fokker Services, said in a press release. "We recognize and appreciate the confidence that the RNLAF has demonstrated in our team and we look forward to further develop our relationship."

"This contract will enhance the position of Fokker in the military support market providing a total support solution for this specific group of parts."

Fokker's support covers the delivery of standard parts, as well as additional services that include transportation, management of storage systems, forecasting and stock storage.

Aircraft covered under the agreement include the RNLAF's fleet of Apache-, Chinook- and Cougar- helicopters, F-16 fighters, PC-7s and KDC-10 tanker aircraft.

Work under the contract will be conducted at the company's facility in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands.

"This is an important innovative performance-based contract which will directly contribute to the readiness of the Royal Netherlands Air Force," said RNLAF Commodore Mario Verbeek. "I am very proud and happy to take this important step together with our strategic partner GKN Aerospace Fokker."
