Lockheed Martin awarded contract for KC-130J trainers
(UPI) Jun 12, 2017 - Lockheed Martin has received a $59 million modification for an existing contract for fuselage trainers for systems used on the KC-10J, the Department of Defense recently announced.

The trainers will be modified C-10 fuselages designed to represent the functions and appearance of the KC-130J airborne tanker aircraft. It will allow training on exterior and interior preflight and postflight inspections and loading operations.

Work will be conducted in Tulsa, Okla., and Marietta, Ga. The program is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2021, and fiscal 2015 and 2016 funds in the amount of $59 million will abe allocated upon the time of the award.

The KC130J tanker is designed to refuel a variety of aircraft in mid-flight in order to extend their operational range. It is based on the C-130 Hercules cargo plane.

Finland as approved an amendment to a Foreign Military Sales agreement with the United States for spare parts and support for F-18 Hornet aircraft.

The $97.1 amendment – an extension of service -- covers software maintenance, spare parts for the aircraft, equipment, repair, transport and training services.

The Finnish Ministry of Defense said the amendment to the 2013 product support sale guarantees the required service of the aircraft with the same content from 2018 until 2020.

The Finnish government's Cabinet Finance Committee supported the amendment during a sessuin earlier this month. It was later signed by Defense minister Jussi Niinistö.

Additional information regarding the deal was not detailed.
