At the International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Expo held in Tokyo, Nihon Entegris, K.K., unveiled new products to help manufacturers improve fuel cell performance - the Parallel Plate and Aeronex Hydrogen H2 purification line. These new offerings demonstrate Entegris' successful application of more than 40 years of polymer material science and manufacturing experience.

A leading provider of advanced fuel cell materials, components, sub-assemblies and services, Entegris provides fuel cell system developers with tools to control contamination, improve reliability and lower costs. Many of these and other Entegris fuel cell products on display at booth 7-7 are manufactured or designed in Chaska, Minn., or at the company's facility in Yonezawa, approximately 300 km from Tokyo.

"Entegris has invested state-of-the-art equipment to bring value to the fuel cell industry and play a vital role in its growth," said Mike Zabka, Fuel Cell engineering manager. "These new product lines exemplify why many of the top developers rely on our experience to help them increase production and decrease costs - so they can focus on driving the fuel cell industry from concept to commercialization."

The Parallel Plate line helps meet the industry's increasing demand for uniform compression-molded bipolar plates used in portable, stationary and transportation fuel cell stacks. Manufacturers using Parallel Plate products benefit from improved plate consistency and conductivity when compared to traditional bipolar plates.

Product testing shows that Parallel Plate products have the unique ability to be sealed with less than a 50 um discrepancy, while still maintaining the product-exclusive flow fields many OEMs require. The Parallel Plate is constructed from a highly conductive carbon-loaded composite and aims to help manufacturers increase stack reliability and decrease development costs. Entegris is able to mold plates with this accuracy using state-of-the-art plate presses at its manufacturing facility.

Entegris also introduced the Aeronex Hydrogen H2 purification line, a purification filter that has generated a great deal of interest in fuel cell test stands for its unique ability to reduce molecular contaminants such as oxygen, moisture and hydrocarbons to levels of less than 1 part per billion.

Through its ability to minimize contamination in hydrogen, the Aeronex Hydrogen H2 purification line helps increase material quality and overall system performance. The Aeronex Hydrogen H2 purification line was demonstrated alongside other industry leading Entegris filtration products, including the Aeronex Gatekeeper point of use purification line in the company's booth at the Expo.
