On the heels of the recent announcement regarding ASM Pacific Technology's (ASMPT) intention to acquire the DEK and DEK Solar businesses, both companies are already working to expand opportunities and view the photovoltaic (PV) market as an area of unlimited potential.

While there are obvious synergies between ASMPT's Assembly Systems (ASM AS) business and DEK's leading position in the SMT market, ASMPT's decision to acquire DEK also involved the growth opportunity the company sees for DEK Solar.

ASMPT already has established successful activities in the solar sector and believes the power of DEK Solar's comprehensive offer presents meaningful prospects to broaden its solar market presence. ASMPT looks forward to advancing DEK Solar's work in the PV market and anticipates some interesting future projects based on research and activities already underway.

As the ASM AS CEO, Gunter Lauber, stated recently, "DEK Solar offers ASMPT an opportunity to diversify into a different market, with high growth potential."

ASMPT is firmly committed to extending DEK Solar's innovative work with market-leading cell efficiency processes, award-winning high throughput, high yield metallization platforms and fine-line stencil advances that are set to dramatically change material deposition capabilities.

Lauber went on to acknowledge DEK Solar's continuous innovation philosophy and its alignment with ASMPT's technology development mindset. "In this year alone, DEK Solar has been awarded three industry awards in recognition of its metallization platforms and its innovative contributions to the solar market," he said.

"These distinctions speak to the company's ongoing investment in meaningful technology and deep understanding of customer requirements. As an organization that places great emphasis on pushing the technology envelope, ASMPT fully intends to continue these DEK Solar efforts."

As the only metallization platform specialist with a uniquely comprehensive knowledge base that encompasses in-depth expertise in material behavior, screen and stencil manufacture and leading-edge platform development, DEK Solar has a definitive edge in its market space.

Now, with the broad resources available to DEK Solar through ASMPT's global leadership position, the company is confident that its process and product innovations will advance PV capability even further and expand the DEK Solar footprint worldwide.
