Apex Unveils Nova Satellite Bus Platform

Apex, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in spacecraft bus platforms, has introduced Nova, a new ESPA-Grande class satellite bus platform designed to accommodate payloads between 200 and 500 kg.

Set for delivery starting in Q3 2025, Nova will cater to the demands of proliferated Low Earth Orbit (LEO) missions, including projects for the U.S. Space Force's Space Development Agency (SDA) and classified initiatives. Nova offers both base and heavy configuration options, with the base version tailored to fit within the SpaceX Falcon 9 XL Rideshare envelope. The fully equipped Nova can provide over 2.5kw of OAP to support a payload of up to 500 kg.

"After seeing the success of our Aries platform, customers are increasingly looking at Apex to support their critical missions. We designed Nova to meet this need and support a wide range of payloads. Nova is ideal for customers looking to launch constellations requiring more power, higher mass, and other performance factors without sacrificing speed and production reliability," said Apex CEO Ian Cinnamon.

With increasing satellite deployment needs from the U.S. Department of Defense and other governmental clients, Apex's range of satellite bus platforms, including Nova, positions the company to play a pivotal role in space competitiveness for the U.S. and allied countries. Apex's unique, standardized approach to satellite bus production is expected to ease entry barriers for space development and exploration.

Nova is the third satellite bus product in Apex's portfolio, following the Aries, which launched on March 4, 2024, and the GEO Aries, designed for geostationary orbits. Nova's release supports Apex's commitment to standardization, scalable production, and rapid deployment for global customers.
