AM General has received a $356 million U.S. Army contract modification to provide 1,673 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles for Afghanistan.

The deal involves providing 1,259 M1151 armament-carrying Humvees, as well as 414 M1152 troop carriers.

The contract is part of a previously announced foreign military sales contract that also included Iraq, Kenya, Lebanon, Ukraine and Tunisia.

AM General began production of the M1151 and M1152 variants in 2005, and feature armor protection, including frag kits, all of of which can be installed and removed in the field, the company said.

Work will be performed in Indiana, with an estimated completion date of July 2017.

The Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity.
