ABC Solar Incorporated, one of California's longest-standing solar energy firms, will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a grand opening and public celebration at AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 21, from 3 p.m. to sunset at AltaSea's Berth 58, located at 2451 Signal St. in San Pedro.

Founded in 2000, ABC Solar has spent the last quarter-century installing solar power systems across Southern California. The company is now expanding its research and development work with a new lab space at AltaSea, a 35-acre nonprofit campus focused on ocean innovation, clean energy and sustainability.

"San Pedro and this city have given us 25 incredible years," said Brad Bartz, founder of ABC Solar. "Now we get to open a Solar R and D Lab at AltaSea - and throw a party while we're at it."

The family-friendly public event will showcase ABC Solar's clean energy vision and feature hands-on displays, including:

+ Underwater robotics and ocean tech demos

+ Hydrogen-powered vehicles and engines

+ A sushi bar powered by clean energy

+ Solar system tours and educational exhibits

The event is powered by Briggs and Stratton Energy Solutions, ABC Solar's official energy partner.

Attendees who RSVP at ABCsolar.com will be entered for a chance to win a surfboard made from recycled materials by local designer Ry.

"We're calling it the greatest party on the longest day of the year," Bartz said. "And everyone's invited."
