3M Renewable Energy Division introduces 3M Solar Encapsulant Film EVA9000, a fast cure encapsulant that is designed to work with PV modules to provide protection against UV-aging and weathering while ensuring the maximum amount of visible light transmission to solar cells.

Produced in response to customer demand, the encapsulant adds to 3M's list of offerings to the solar industry. 3M Solar Encapsulant Film EVA9000 is conformable and flexible with a very low shrinkage rate, providing ease of use for manufacturers.

The film provides durable bonding strength with both glass and backsheet materials, and also offers excellent stability to UV rays and damp heat. Finally, it has a high rate of light transmission, enabling maximum efficiency for solar modules.

The film is the first in a planned series of encapsulant introductions from 3M Renewable Energy Division.

In its development of the product line, 3M has drawn upon its core technologies in precision coating films, adhesives and extrusion, combining its broad expertise in these categories in order to answer the needs of the solar market.

"3M's breadth of expertise allows us to mix and match technologies in a way that other companies cannot," said Vinny Gupta, Encapsulants Program Manager, 3M Renewable Energy Division.

"We are pleased to add this product to our portfolio of solutions for our solar customers."
