An unidentified Latin American country has ordered public safety and tactical radios, plus accessories, in a $15 million deal with Harris Corp.

The radios will come from Harris' Falcon family of tactical communications system and will be integrated into the country's new wireless digital voice and data network for national security use, such as in protection of strategic installations.

The company's Falcon III RF-7800V is a next-generation VHF tactical radio that delivers advanced mission-critical management and data capabilities. The Falcon RF-5800H is a HF manpack radio that provides beyond-line-of-sight terrestrial communications with advanced encryption, frequency hopping capabilities and an internal GPS receiver.

"Harris is uniquely positioned to address converging defense and internal security missions," said Brendan O'Connell, president, International Business, Harris RF Communication. "These new Harris tactical and land mobile radios will enhance the capabilities of this nation's forces to coordinate their efforts to provide safety and security to its citizens."
