UNIBIRD introduces AI navigation for drones in GPS-denied zones

UNIBIRD has launched the N200 VIO Navigation Module, designed to support drone navigation and localization using AI vision in environments without GPS availability. The N200 module facilitates GPS-free operation and eliminates vulnerability to jamming and spoofing.

Priced at $399, the N200 offers continuous positioning with an accuracy error margin as low as 2 percent and fully integrates with PX4 flight controllers. This makes it substantially more affordable and practical compared to traditional fiber-optic inertial systems. No pre-installed satellite maps are required for operation.

The module boasts an operating altitude of up to 656 feet and reaches speeds up to 44.7 mph, surpassing the limits of competing products from Red Cat and Palantir. Its dynamic positioning accuracy ranges from 2 to 8 percent, suitable for a range of rapid battlefield tasks.

Electronic warfare often disables traditional GPS navigation and causes significant drone failures and mission losses, with up to 75 percent of drones affected and mission success rates dropping as low as 10 percent. In contrast, fiber-optic navigation alternatives are hampered by weight and fragility and can cost close to $10,000, posing challenges for cost-sensitive deployments.

The N200 fuses camera, IMU, and laser sensor data through an optimization framework and utilizes adaptive feature tracking algorithms. Performance remains stable in low-texture or high-speed scenarios; the system supports cruise velocities of 15 to 20 meters per second and attack speeds up to 25 meters per second.

Users can deploy the module quickly - direct connection to PX4 controllers requires minor PID tuning and minutes for integration. Its latency is 28 milliseconds, with an accuracy error of 2 percent.

UNIBIRD, based in Dubai, coordinates R and D and production across Asia-Pacific to provide onboard module solutions for drone navigation, targeting, and precision tasks. The N200 navigation module is now available in bulk for military and civilian applications where reliable positioning is critical.
