Bethesda MD (SPX) Nov 21, 2008 TracPlus Global provided Iridium-enabled tracking systems for a pair of American pilots in their successful attempt to set a new world helicopter speed record in August 2008. The pilots, Scott Kasprowicz and Steve Sheik, broke the world record for around-the-world flight by nearly six days, flying an unmodified AgustaWestland Grand helicopter. TracPlus supplied real-time flight tracking services, with position reports transmitted from the aircraft at one-minute intervals through the Iridium satellite network. The Grand Adventure Website ran the helicopter's position updates in near real time. TracPlus also created a global messaging application allowing the crew to communicate in real time with the mission command center in Atlanta.
