Toyota's domestic operation to return to normal
by Staff Writers
Tokyo (AFP) Nov 11, 2011

Japanese auto giant Toyota Motor said Friday its domestic operation that had been affected by the impact of Thai floods would return to normal later this month.

Toyota has adjusted production at its Japanese assemblies due to stalled shipments of auto parts from Thailand since October 24, which has affected at least 40,000 units at home.

"But we will be able to secure more than 95 percent of scheduled operations in Japan between November 21 and November 25," a spokeswoman said.

The firm will decide on plans for future operations at home while watching "situations from now on," she added.

On Thursday, Toyota said it would resume production from November 21 at its three Thai plants, which were forced to halt operations on October 10.

Toyota, which has held off issuing its full-year earnings forecast as it assesses the impact of the floods, has been forced to close some operations in Asia, the United States, Canada and South Africa due to a lack of supplies.
