China unveils logos for three space missions in 2025

The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) has revealed the official logos for three prominent missions scheduled for 2025: the crewed spaceflights Shenzhou XX and Shenzhou XXI, and the cargo spacecraft Tianzhou 9. The announcement was made on Monday as part of efforts to highlight China's expanding presence in space exploration.

Each of these newly unveiled logos is designed to represent the bravery, resolve, and dedication of Chinese astronauts as they advance humanity's understanding of the universe, according to the CMSA. Since China's first manned mission, Shenzhou-5, in 2003, individual mission logos have been a tradition, and in 2023, CMSA began soliciting designs for these emblems from the public.

The upcoming Shenzhou XX and Shenzhou XXI missions will each carry crews of three astronauts. Shenzhou XX is planned to dock with the radial port of the space station's core module, while Shenzhou XXI will connect with its front port. These missions aim to conduct extravehicular activities, deliver cargo through the station's airlock module, and carry out experiments in space science and technology.

In the latter half of 2025, the Tianzhou 9 cargo spacecraft will launch from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan Province. This mission will play a critical role in resupplying the space station by delivering essential supplies for astronauts, fuel to sustain station operations, and a variety of payloads to support ongoing experiments and activities.

China's manned space program is now firmly in its application and development phase. The CMSA plans to sustain this momentum with an annual schedule of two manned spacecraft missions and one to two cargo missions.
