Report: U.S. science and technology lead diminishing as Asia competes

U.S. predominance in science and technology eroded during the last decade as many Asian nations increased their innovation capacities, a report indicates. The report released Thursday by the National Science Board - the policy making body of the National Science Foundation - said major Asian economies, taken together, now perform a larger share of global R&D than the United States, and China performs nearly as much of the world's high-tech manufacturing as America.
