SkyMapper and SETI launch real time global astronomy data network

The initiative will allow sky-observing stations and telescopes, including the SETI Institute's LaserSETI, CAMS, and Unistellar programs, to receive and respond to live observation requests. These stations will also contribute their findings to a secure, blockchain-verified global database, ensuring data transparency and integrity.

SkyMapper's database will be open to the SETI Institute, facilitating research, scientific studies, and algorithm development. Key aspects of the collaboration include a 24/7 resilient network of telescopes, real-time data sharing, blockchain-backed records for scientific trust, and open participation from the global astronomy community.
