Oslo, Norway (SPX) Oct 10, 2005 Telenor Satellite Services recently announced that it is offering up to US $3000 of free airtime to maritime customers who upgrade their satellite communications from the aging Inmarsat A analog service to the company's Fleet F77 digital voice and data technology. This offer, available worldwide beginning April 1, 2003, allows maritime customers to take full advantage of Telenor's industry leading portfolio of voice and high-speed data services and applications available to ships at sea. Telenor's Fleet F77 service via Inmarsat delivers a wide range of services for voice, fax, and data communications at speeds of up to 64 kbps, including the rapid mobile Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and the new, resource-efficient Mobile Packet Data Service. Fleet's ISDN service supports broadcast quality audio and video enabling video conferencing, e-commerce, high volume data transfer, distance learning, and remote performance monitoring. Telenor Fleet F77 service also offers the flexibility of Mobile Packet Data Service, providing maritime customers the benefit of paying only for data they transmit and receive instead of paying for the total time they are connected to the satellite. This feature is particularly valuable for mariners using global Internet applications including Web access, file transfer and e-mail. Fleet's packet data capability enables users to share satellite resources, increasing efficiency and reducing cost. "Telenor's Fleet F77 offers mariners the most reliable 'at sea' satellite communications available today along with some of the industry's most innovative and useful value added services," said Torbjorn Teigen, vice president of products and services for Telenor Satellite Service. "Our free service offer is designed to help encourage maritime customers to take advantage of the latest maritime digital voice and data services, while providing them with the best value for their communications money." With Telenor's Fleet F77 service, users can take advantage of Telenor's extensive portfolio of value added services. Services include prepaid calling solutions for passengers and crew, easy Internet access with e-mail, and satellite direct calling to Inmarsat terminals. Telenor's Fleet service also works with The Source, a Web-based information management system enabling Telenor's Service Providers access to key customer account information. The free airtime offer applies to customers who upgrade to Telenor Fleet F77 from Inmarsat A service between April 1, 2003 and March 31, 2004. Free service must be used within 12 months following the activation of the new Fleet terminal.
