Colorado Springs - Oct 11, 2001 Up to 300 aerospace engineers, scientists and military space specialists will converge on Colorado Springs just after Thanksgiving to discuss a wide range of cutting-edge space science and technologies. The 2001 Core Technologies for Space Systems Conference will be held at the Doubletree Hotel Colorado Springs-World Arena from November 28th to 30th. Now in its fourth year, this is the most broadly-based space technology conference held in the Rocky Mountain region. Topics range from launch vehicles and satellites to the space environment, tracking and satellite control to ground-based support systems. Speakers come from universities, industry, Government, and the Space Commands. Keynote speakers include Colorado Secretary of Innovation and Technology Marc Holtzman, and Dr Bob Zubrin, President of the Colorado-based Mars Society and a staunch advocate of a manned Mars mission. The final event will be on Friday afternoon when a distinguished panel of engineers and astronauts answers questions from local Pikes Peaks area high school students on why math and sciences courses are relevant to their lives today and in their future careers.
