C-COM Selects Encore Networks For Global Broadband VPN Solutions

Dulles VA (SPX) Jan 31, 2005
Encore Networks announced last week that C-COM Satellite Systems has selected Encore's complete line of VSR security appliances for both fixed and mobile global satellite VPN network solutions.

Headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, C-COM Satellite Systems is a publicly traded company that develops, manufactures and deploys two-way, high-speed satellite based Internet services into vehicles and transportable platforms.

C-COM's products and services deliver high quality, cost effective solutions for both fixed and mobile applications throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, Australia, Mexico, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.

The industry's served today by C-COM's solutions include Law Enforcement and Homeland Security, Emergency Response Teams, Natural Resources, Public Services, Recreational Vehicles and many other mobile and remote applications requiring Internet access via satellite.

"Every industry has unique characteristics and requirements, especially when it comes to conducting business from vehicles in remote locations," stated Dr. Leslie Klein, President and CEO of C-COM Satellite Systems.

"We see key functionality and versatility in Encore's VPN products that directly address our customers' requirements for immediate and secure access to the Internet while on the move."

The Encore VSR suite of secure broadband VPN security products are powered by the feature-rich ELIOS operating system, which is optimized to work over satellite and hybrid networks.

Features like IP routing and QoS, stateful inspection Firewall, IP VPNs and Encore's patent-pending Selective Layer Encryption (SLE) allow satellite carriers to provision high performance IP VPNs on-demand, with the ability to support redundancy and fail-over dynamically via either broadband terrestrial or satellite networks.

"C-COM works towards one objective, the efficient delivery of advanced, secure Internet solutions," said Peter Madsen, President and CEO of Encore Networks. "Our VPN security products enable C-COM to offer IP-based, secure end-to-end satellite connectivity without the performance degradation associated with traditional IPsec VPN products."
