Alliance Takes Message To Paris Air Show

Arlington VA (SPX) Jun 14, 2005
The Alliance for Earth Observations is one of more than 1,900 exhibitors participating in this week's 46th International Paris Air Show at Le Bourget Airport.

Considered the world's largest air show, this annual event serves as a premier gathering spot for the international aviation and aerospace industry.

As part of an international effort to expand support for global Earth observations and increase recognition of their social and economic benefits, the Alliance stand in the U.S. Pavilion will feature an exhibit and video that highlight the need for integrated environmental information.

"The Alliance's presence at the Paris Air show is a clear demonstration of the kind of interest and support there is for global Earth observations," said Nancy Colleton, Alliance executive director.

"We look forward to continuing to work internationally to promote the private sector role in the development of observation systems and networks."

An initiative of the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, located near Washington, D.C., the Alliance facilitates private sector - industry, academic and nongovernmental - participation and partnership in U.S. and international planning for Earth observations, especially as it relates to the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS).

GEOSS is an international effort involving nearly 60 countries and more than 30 international organizations to link the world's individual networks of surface-based, airborne and space-based Earth-observing instruments.

The Alliance strives to ensure that GEOSS will be of benefit to both governments and the private sector.
